Volunteer With Us

Volunteers are essential to the Dayton Art Institute. Through art, we create transformative and diverse experiences, strengthen community connections and inspire imagination.

With fewer than 100 staff members and nearly 500 volunteers, volunteers play a vital role in supporting daily operations, programs and signature events across the museum.

Whether you join as an individual, couple or group, volunteering is a meaningful way to connect with art, people and your community!

Volunteer Opportunities

We offer a range of ways to get involved:

  • Visitor Experience: Greeters, membership scanners, ushers, bartenders
  • Programs & Education: Lange Family Experiencenter, department support, museum guides
  • Events & Rentals: Art Ball, Oktoberfest, building rentals, program support
  • Seasonal & Youth Volunteering: High school summer volunteers and special projects

Inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility and belonging are central to the Dayton Art Institute’s mission and volunteer experience. We welcome and value the contributions of every volunteer.

Additional opportunities may be available and can be seen on Volunteer Hub throughout the year based on museum needs!

Commitment

Volunteer opportunities are flexible and may be occasional, seasonal or ongoing.

  • Occasional: One-time events or special projects
  • Frequent: Seasonal events or program series
  • Regular: Weekly or monthly museum support
